ForwardsTrader, LLC was the brain child of an independent trader who was looking to access a broader scope of clients from around the globe, as well as encourage additional liquidity to the market. After seeing things such as freight procurement and person-to-person financing successfully implemented on the web, he asked himself “Why not commodity forwards?”

As he discussed his idea with other traders, he learned there was a great deal of interest from a variety of industries. Some saw it as an avenue to new customers; others saw it as a way to save some money on brokerage costs. Some even thought of strategies that they chose not to share, but excitedly asked to be notified when the site was completed.

ForwardsTrader.com was officially launched in 2009, providing traders, brokers, and end-users with the online platform initially envisioned.
